Question:

Ways to deal with anemia as a pescatarian?

Recently, I have found myself to be quite anemic and have difficulties knowing how to handle this as a pescatarian.

I am taking iron supplements and my GP is aware of my situation. However, mostly I find it difficult to get to the doctors due to work commitments. Lately, I have found myself at a loss of what to do and have eaten red meat, although I hate it.

I have heard that there are supplements made for vegetarians which give them vitamins lost by not eating meat. Is this appropriate for me and what dietary changes would you recommend?

I currently eat a diet based on mostly vegetables, pulses, dairy products and some fish.

  1. This sounds like a health question..not a vegetarian question.  No type of vegetarian eats fish.  If a vegetarian eats a healthy balanced diet, supplements are not needed.

  2. sounds like your on the right track with the supplement. Eat a good diet with plenty of iron- beans nuts tofu lentils pulses grains spinach- and it might take a while for your energy levels to return, but I wish you well.
