Thats the chilukur balaji temple for you ( near Hyderabad).I accompanied my friend to this place ,one early morning last month.The presiding deity is Lords Balaji, also known as the 'Veesaala Devudu'(God of Visas).The temple is quite popular with visa applicants ,esp student visa applicants. It's fun to watch young college grads running around the temple ( pradakshinas).

But you never know , i may go back there later on , for some serious visa hunting. !  

The Deal:

This is how it works

Stage 1 :- Put in the visa application form

Come to the chilukuru temple ,and do 11 rounds around the temple ( pradakshina) and pray for your visa.

Stage 2 :- Go through the visa processing formalities

Stage 3: Iff you get the visa ,you go back to the temple and finish your rounds ,108 times this time around.

Why only 11 pradakshinas are prescribed for first-timers?

This practice has an interesting background. During 1969-70, borewells were dug up in the temple premises, to meet the temple’s water requirements; but the early trials ended in a failure. When the work began again, the priest , and two other devotees, offered prayers and started performing Pradakshinas. Water gushed out of the borewells, when they completed 11 pradakshinas. Subsequently, they offered 108 pradakshinas as thanks-giving gesture towards the Lord. This practice has been followed since then
