  1. back in the day before social story  books i just wrote things in my dd iep. to go out in the public and just kept talking to her. just like any kid our kids learn by example. it may not be perfect but they can learn some things.

just by telling them the expectations goes a long way just as you would for a normal kid. i have two kids one is autistic she just grad last year and my oldest child is Nt.

she is now in a day support program where she goes and does community activities.

  2. Books on social stories do very often help. Otherwise it is just a case of persevering and reinforcing social skills. It would help if your question was a bit more specific as people with autism are so different to one another and what works with one person might not work with another.

  3. my brother goes to a school that has a program with kids just like him. they get along great because they dont see the flause in each other that other people might see in them.

  4. 1method is through the use of social stories-there a re published books available or you can write your own-

such as how to ask a friend to play

    how to take turns

also-role playing-adult acts as a peer and coaches studnet how to react/interact
