Ways to improve the environment?

Question

My school is having a contest. The person who can come up with an idea to help improve the environment and can actually carry out their plan will win an ipod ( I need one because my old one broke). The catch is that the plan has to be typed up and less than 400 characters, NOT words. This is because they think they will get a lot of entries and want to choose the winner in a timely fashion.

Any advice? I have a lot of smart people in my school and I'd love to win.

recycle aluminum cans. Like have everyone bring in their empty pop cans and then bring them to a recycling center (they're all over, just google it for locations) and use the money towards something for your school. I'm sure they would love that! If they don't, you could still do it on your own and save up the money to buy the ipod! Hope I helped. Good luck! =]

Ok, I'm stealing part of another idea here:

Have a recycle drive, walk-a-thon, pledge drive and/or any other fundraising idea you can come up with.  Raise money to buy a solar panel for the school roof.  

I don't know the cost, but I would imagine one panel would run a few thousand dollars, since I've heard they can cost $20,000 or so for a whole roof.  It could also be a senior gift to the school (assuming you're in high school).

If your school has a flat roof plant a roof garden.  Google it and research the importance of it. Good Luck:)
