Question:

Ways to make a good first impression?

Apparently, within the first 30 seconds of meeting a person you can determine weather you're interested in them or not; as a friend or as more. I'm starting college soon and to be completely honest, i'm not pretty and although a lot of people will argue that being pretty has nothing to do with it, I think that you're wrong. I always have to work fairly hard for someone to be interested in me because I'm not "pretty enough to approach". So although not a lot can be done about the way i look, I'd just like some tips and advice on how i can give off good vibes and just show people that I'm genuinely a nice, funny, considerate person and a good friend.

thanks!

  1. The way you are thinking and feeling on the inside projects on the outside. Always project the good. I've noticed when I'm in a crabby mood and out with my friends, no one asks me to dance. When I'm out and happy, smiling etc, then I can't beat them off with a stick. It is all in the attitude.

Don't sit nose down in a book all the time. When you walk around, smile at people. Talk to anyone and everyone. Practice with people at the book store or the gas station. Just act as if they are your friend and start talking. No more than a minute or two and then move on. Don't run off your resume. Nothing irritates me more than hearing a "one upper" (I have a MBA, I can fly a plane, I have 3 dogs that won awards, I live here, I drive this, I, I, I) Be a good listener and smile, that goes a long way.
