Ways to pay my way through college?

I was thinking of starting my own business to pay my way through college. My mom suggested a newspaper because she said i should do something i love...which is writing. My mom owns her own paper, now i thinking about starting my own here and paying for it with advertisments. Do you think this is a good idea? My mom knows alot about it because she has her own so she knows about printing and design. So...what do you think?

I say go for the paper idea..you won't know til you try it!

Some alternate ideas:

1.  Offer to maintain businesses myspace pages and charge them monthly.  I heard of a girl who was charging $100/mo.

2.  Load up peoples ipods/zunes with music for a fee.  May need special computer equipment.  Most people don't want to take the time to load their own and are willing to pay for the service.

I feel that is a great idea if your newspaper is targeting a under served market when it comes to newspaper.

ex-- a growing local spanish speaking population but no newspaper.

This way you are the only game in town and you will easily get the advertisers in your newspapers because their are always businesses that want to target specific populations
