Question:

Ways to prevent UTI's after s*x?

I was a virgin before I met my current boyfriend. We made love about 5-10 times before I started getting UTI's. We took a break from s*x for a while to see if that's what was causing it, and I haven't really had any problems since we stopped [[ the last time we "did it" was back in late May ]].

It's obviously the s*x that was causing it. I really don't think I'm allergic to the latex or lube that the condom has. I think I just have a really sensitive system, but I still want the connection that making love gives me and my boyfriend.

So, does anyone have a way for me to prevent myself from getting a UTI?

  1. Make sure you and your boyfriend both shower or "clean up"  before AND after, and make sure to pee immediately afterwards as well to flush your urethra of any bacteria that may have made its way in there. When you wipe after using the loo, wipe from front to back only to prevent self contamination.

  2. You can get non latex condoms, if that really is the problem.

  3. Always go to the bathroom after having s*x. It is the best way to prevent an UTI.

  4. My friend had the same problem.  She said before s*x she and her boyfriend would wash "down there" and immediately after s*x she would go wash again.  Since then she hasn't had any UTI's.  Hope this helps and good luck.

  5. I've suffered off and on with this same issue for years! In fact, this is very common.

My doctor always made sure that I had an extra supply of medication since it happened so often he didn't even need to see me.

It's good to pee right after intercourse. Some suggest washing up immediately, but I don't see what washing the outside of the body can do about bacteria that's gotten inside.

I've also found that super-concentrated cranberry supplements are much more effective than plain cranberry juice. I like U.T. Vibrance by Vibrant Health and SolarRay's Super CranActin. You can get these at Whole Foods and such. I've even been able to get rid of full-blown infection using only these remedies and I've not had to take antibiotics for several years. Don't get cheap drug store brands ... they're not as effective, in my opinion.

I never once considered not having s*x though.

    Good luck!

  6. some guys might be insulted if you just get up to wash after s*x, but explain the UTI thing, and go wash. make sure you flush the area well, so the bacteria get flushed out and away from your area.

also, it is said that drinking cranberry juice is a good natural way to prevent UTI infections, though current evidence suggests that it does not help cure them.

  7. Immediately void ( pee) after wards and shower. Also use non- latex. Many people are allergic to latex and condoms is usually the first tell tale sign.
