Has anyone been in a situation like this? Our district is failing to come to an agreement and we want to show them how together and serious we are. Any ideas?

  1. At my school, we all bought some nice matching shirts that had our Association name on it...we wore them every Wed. It wasn't as bad as some that wear the black bands, yet it showed unity. It took us 2 years to get a contract.

  2. Before and during your next bargaining session have your members walk around the building where negotiations are taking place.  Have them be cordial, upbeat and positive as a good image to the community.  If you need a momentum change during the session discretely send a text message to someone in the group walking around outside and they can increase the noise level to let the district know their still waiting for a settlement.

Kiki's idea is also a good way to show unity.  We had every member wear our association shirts to school on the days we bargained.  We settled 2.5 months before our old contract was up.
