We'll be traveling all over Italy for 2 weeks. What kind of tolls can we expect? Are they expensive?

  1. Yes, they are expensive (about 30 or 40 euro). Also staying in a hotel is very expensive but I think you spend well your money.

    (ps: the trains are always late...sometimes you must wait 30 minutes or a hour...)

    You can use credit cars in autostrade...not for train and taxi


  2. Personally, I don't find the tolls to be too expensive here, but it depends on your expectations (and I take the trains a lot rather than driving). You might be interested in this site: http://wanderingitaly.com/maps/autostrad... They seem to feel the tolls are high. Don't count on a foreign credit or debit card working at all toll booths. As long as your ATM card is on a major international network, you won't have any trouble finding a machine to withdraw money in Euros here. Just be aware that an ATM is called a Bancomat here.
