We're all going to die in four years?

So earlier today I watched this Al Gore movie called The Inconvenient Truth (you should watch it, it's great) and I also watched this other movie about this Ancient Mayan Civilization. and according to the Mayan's, they predict the apocalypse will be on December 23rd 2012. which is four years from now. and the Al Gore movie, he talked about how the extent that this global warming is getting is killing everything (including us). What's most likely gonna happen is that because all of the icebergs, glaciers, etc, are all melting, what's going to happen is the Atlantic Ocean is gonna overflood and hit all major cities and bring us to our watery deaths. Or they stay if that this volcano, I forget what it's called, but it erupts every 30 years, if it erupts that could also be the end. There's already a hole in the ozone layer somewhere over New Zealand. Full, adult, grown polar bears are drowning because there is no more ice + more. what do you think?

i watched that in school, i liked it but personally he talks about bad things wayyyy too much and it kinda freaked me out about the charts and things and i think we're not going to die in 4 years, thts a little too early, maybe like 7 years, i think

So, you seem to get your science from movies.  You should watch "Jurassic Park"  for true history and "Night Of The Living Dead" for anatomy and physiology.

As for U.S. history, TV shows are best.  

"F Troop" reruns will tell you about civil war era army forts and "Hogan's Heroes" about n**i prison camps.

"Rawhide" reruns is a picture perfect representation of the American 'wild west' and speaking of the 'wild west', "Wild Wild West" reruns tells you all about the early federal agent program.

My cousin is a scientist they are even skeptical of global warming. Al Gore is neither a scientist or an authority on weather. I think you'll be fine. Don't follow the crowd, the Earth has gone through periods of heating and cooling for centuries, What happened to the Ice Age?

Take Al Gore with a Huge Grain Of Salt...

As far as the ocean overflowing do this experiment:

Take a Glass fill it full of Ice pack it full. Then Fill the balance with water. Walk away for a period of time and note the change  in the water and ice levels. Not counting on the Sweating on the outside of the glass.

The water and Ice itself did not over flow the glass.

As far as 2012 is concerned we'll just have to wait and see...

plants and animals have been evolving and adapting to the ever-changing climate for as long as their has been life on earth.

there is no doubt that whether or not global warming is really happening that life will survive and humans definitely will no matter what. humans have been shown to be able to adapt better and in less time than almost any other species. we have only been around for thousands of years. we started as nomadic hunter-gatherers and then to farmers and now we're industrialized. no other species has ever undergone this much adaptation in so little time.

i honestly believe that the whole 'global warming' thing is all propaganda. climate change is real, however.  it has always been real. the climate flunctuates and sometimes rapidly. theres no point to try to stop it. we need to let the earth system regulate itself. what do you think knows how to regulate the earths climate -- the earth, or humans who cant even accurately predict the weather one week in advance?

The mayan calendar is more disinformation. The mayas were sun-worshippers who followed the movement of the sun and recorded it to great detail. they realized many pattersn that it goes thru over thousands of years. they realized that the sun is to end its next cycle in 2012. the mayas predicted it was to go thru this cycle 5 or 6 times and this will be the beginning of the very last cycle which will last thousands of years. it is not the apocalypse. just the end off this cycle. the mayas did not predict the end of the world.

All of these things will ultimately result in cataclysmic events and great human casualities, but I seriously that it will kill all 6 billion+ human beings. It is gonna be bad, it might happen soon or in 10 years, but there are going to be major problems.

Are we back on that 2012 thing again?  We are not going anywhere...  just like we all woke up and life went on when 1/1/2000 came, we will all wake up on 12/24/2012 and the world will still be spinning, jobs will still need to be done...  and life will still be going on...

Why not look up Nostradamus while you're at it...  some of his predictions were vaguely true as well...  

It's all about paranoia and keeping people scared of all the "what if's" of the world...

Despite what Count Bleck says, the 2012 thing has nothing to do with Global Warming.  Ignore all the movies.  Read.  Go to school.  Get your rest at night.  Be of good cheer.
