  1. Get quotes from at least 2 or 3 different LICENSED electricians . This will give you more bargaining room in getting the lowest possible price.

  2. Since you marked your question in the category of "LAND LINES" then I assume your project involves your phone line. I would say the most important issue is to determine where and how many phone outlets you want before seeking estimates ( note the phone companies charge big bucks for their wiring services). The second issue involves the placement of the wiring itself. If your walls are closed (no studding showing) then you will probably have some exposed wiring. The interior walls can usually be concealed wiring as the wires can be fished where wanted. However, the exterior walls are hard to do that  proceedure due to the insulation. Good Luck.

  3. smudgeuk9: Electrical wiring is one thing. Communications wiring (telephone, computer, etc.)is another. Most electricians are not communications people. First find a retired telephone man. Second, have him run Home Runs. These are individual cables from the D-Marcation point to each jack location. Uses more wire but future troubleshooting is much easier. Third, use only Category5 type cable & has 4 twisted pairs of wires.!st pr. Blue,2nd pr. Orange, 3rd pr. Green, 4th pr. Brown. I hope this helps you. exbelltel
