  1. My favourite is the clown loach, because they lay down on their sides when they sleep, very funny when peopl think they are dead as did my brother

  2. I think the second one is a saltwater fish so you can't get that one. Go on petco.com. there are some really awesome live fish you can get there. Try the butterfly fish. It is very weird. Also you could look at neon tetras, guppies, angelfish, and platies. All of them except the butterfly fish are low maintenance.

  3. okay, yes, sea horses are available as pets, and that would be a great idea!! maybe other saltwater fish, like clownfish, lionfish(those are cool!! XD), ummm... sorry, i can't remember many names right now....

  4. The prettiest fish are saltwater fish. They require much more maintenance than tropical but are far more beautiful.

  5. you first need to decide which type of fish you want to keep.

freshwater fish are much easier than salt water fish.  salt water fish need a lot of room and time as well as a lot of money.  so if this isnt possible forget sea horses etc.  if you are set on sea horses make sure you research it thoroughly and don't skimp out on tank size and equipment.  they are wonderful creatures but are difficult to keep

my advice for a first tank would be freshwater.  research properly with your sister and remember the bigger the tank the better.  get a tank as big as you are allowed.  this actually makes it easier to set up and look after.  set it all up and leave running without any fish in for about a week.  then buy some hardy fish.  neons and platies are good ones to start with and are quite pretty.  look around the net and when you buy from the shop make sure they look the same.  a lot of fish shops dye the fish to make them sell better.  if you buy schooling fish your better off buying about 7 at a time (in my opinion)  only buy one lot at a time and leave the fish in for a week before buying any more.

always check the net for compatabilty before going ahead and buying fish.  last thing you want is fish being eaten and bullied.

another good idea is a species tank.  if you find a certain type of fish you like you may find they dont really get on with other fish  (like angels and cichlids)  a species tank concentrates on a certain species rather than a bunch of different fish combined together

you may also want to think about bottom dwellers to eat up any c**p on the bottom etc etc.

the internet is more reliable for advice etc rather than the fish shops.

    good luck

  6. ok. seahorses are availible, but the only problem is that they are about 100.00 in total after everything. Plus it will be a while because u have to have ur tank filtered for 6-8 weeks. I almost boght them, until I found that out. lol. But I have guppies, and they are really pretty, u should get some, and they are easy to breed, just put a male in the tank then a female and the next day they are pregant. Then the females are pregnant for about a month. For me it is a nice experience, when she is pushing out the babies. U should get about 1 male, and 1 female. They are really nice unique fish.

  7. you cant go wrong with some guppies to start with, they give birth to live young and they are perfect for the beginner.the males have all different colour tails.

    rainbow fish

    clowns

  9. THE FIRST ONE!

  10. some cool ones are the fresh water butterfly fish, african knife fish and one of my favorites bichar and cichlids. sea horses are available but extremely hard to care for. remember though some times the more exotic fish are the harder to care for

  11. this is probably a bit random compared to the answers you want lol.

just to say..i used to have a tropical fish tank but then i got cats.

my two favorite kinds of fish from my tank were, the neons...they are quite small, red and blue in colour, and if you get about 5 of them or more, they all swim about together and look stunning!

the other kind, the unusual one, would be the japanese fighter fish.. its quite an average size fish, mine was navy-ish blue/purple in colour. if you put a mirror up to the side of the tank, the fish gets defensive, and puffs up to its own reflection, thinking it has some competition.

they're amazing animals, and very entertaining, could watch them for hours!

hope this help =) good luck with your fish tank and hope it looks gorgeous when its done =D

  12. A betta fish (aka thai fightin fish or japanese fighting fish) is extremely attractive and vibrant, available in red or blue or a mixture of the two which large ceromonial tails.

Although with their nature being to fight they may not cope so well with other fish without posing a threat to them.
