Does anyone know of a good radio that can play cd's or my ipod that I could take on the river without getting destroyed. I've taken one on the river and of course it made it half way down until it went under and of course didn't work.

  1. If you want the best tunes on the river, and you want to be the center of a party, you need to make your own...  Don't bring that radio out of your shower, you won't have near the party-people flocking around your musical hub.

Take an ice chest and cut holes in the top for your speakers.  6 X 9 speakers work well.  Cut a piece of plywood and some 2-by-4's for the mounting rack inside the cooler.  Save room for a car battery, cd player/car stereo/ipod (your choice), amplifier, etc...  Be sure to use silicon caulking or similar stuff to seal around the speakers, and also below the 2xby's, to cushion any squeeks.

If you want to spend some serious money, Bose has speakers that will work underwater... but regular outdoor speakers should work well.  You also need to have an inner-tube to float it, and two cute, strong guys to carry this over the low water areas...  Peace!
