I'm doing snowboarding on the trip but the problem is that I'm afraid I'll pretty much die doing it. I've already tried it once in a group and seriously sucked at it and then I've tried it with a single trainer and almost killed myself, but kind of survived in the end. And I'm totally scared of the lift and especially how you have to jump of it and slide if you know what I mean. I can't do skiing for various reasons but please help me, what could I do with snowboarding?! I know I'm not gonna be the only beginner but I'm still way scared about everything. It's gonna suck so much, and it's a sport I just can't 'conquer'. I have a choice of going to a hill alone to practice tomorrow but would that be advisable for a beginner?? And how about the lift?? It's probably gonna stop just because of my clumsiness!! Please any advice, tipps or anything is needed from you guys!!

  1. I was afraid when I started too. As far as the lift goes there are generally bars that you can put in front of you with board rests for people like you, It is a comfort thing, and also if you wave to liftee, he wil usually slow down the chiar lift for you, Everyone falls it is part of the learning process. I would advise wearing wrist guards if you know you are going to fall a lot, and don't go to the hill yourself. It isn't smart there are a lot of risks in going yourself. Good luck and you will get it.

  2. Just relax. Every snowboarder started off as a beginner, just like you. Keep going, and each time you will get better and better. Remember, don't keep the board flat. Always stay on an edge (heel or toe edge). That is the reason that most beginners fall. Make sure you learn how to stop on the bunny slope first if you don't already know how to. Then work your way up from there. I hope this helps, and remember, everyone had a bad time when they were a beginner, but once you get the hang of it, it is the best feeling in the world.

  3. It's only as hard as you think it is.

Just work on turning and balance and you got it.

  4. Snowboarding is alot easyier then skiing. Trust me. =]

  5. if you put yourself down no you cant do it  but if you have confadence in your self then you can probly do it but if not go to beginners dont be afraid what other peopple think ok?

  6. woah woah woah.

Your just basically setting yourself up for disappointment with all this reassuring yourself your gona suck. My advice would be to practice if possible! and a little positive self talk. I have an idea that most of your problems are because of your low confidence. You can't snowboard well without knowing you can!

  7. just tell everyone your a beginner if your worried about getting embarrassed. turn it into something funny. laugh with people when you fall.

  8. I don't think you should go practice by yourself. get one of your friends come with you and give you pointers. and don't worry, it's not just you, i was scared to go up the chairlift to. usually you can ask them to slow the chairlift down as you get on, but you get used to it after a while. when you're getting off, lean on one of your friends to steady you. or if you really wanted you could probably just carry your snowboard up the chairlift. you really can't die doing it as long as you take it slow. practice on the bunnyhill, don't be in a rush to try something too hard for your level.

  9. I can see why your worried but if you don't focus on being scared then you will have a great time with friends!

  10. I have bith skiied and snowboarded all my life. I actually quit skiing for the board. Snowboarding is not that hard to learn especially when you get the hang of it once you have it its so easy. Skiing isnt bad i just quit it cuz my knees are bad and it hurt them worse. Snowboarding is easy to learn and youll never forget how to do it. I promise.
