We're in Germany/Austria later this year. Which Christmas market is best to visit: Vienna, Munich or Salzburg?

They pretty much offer the same things.

In Munich though it´s a very colorful market that recently has a covered area also where you can get good local beer and wine as well as special Christmas cakes.

In Vienna other then usual Christmas you´ll find all sorts of merchandise at the open market, so it´s nice too.

Salzburg is a much smaller town, nevertheless you may find it very charming during Christmas, so I think when your time permits you visit all three!

in vienna theres also a christmas crafting workshop for kids inside the townhall

and theres a smaller christmas market in vienna called "Weihnachtsdorf Altes AKH"
