1. There are many places for you to check for nice furnishings and

appliances to replace your old things, if you do a little searching.

First, check out CraigsList.org specifically for Orange County, Ca.

and search the 'free' items that are being offered around town.

There are many nice things people give away sometimes, though

also be sure to check under the specific catagory like appliances, and household items. Then there is always your local newspaper

classified items,. I also am very sure that there is local thrift

stores around your town to check. You can find many treasures

and nearly new items sometimes if you look.

Also, SCE (so. ca. edison co.) has a great replacement of

refrigerators program for low income families that replace your old

frig with a brand new one, but you must qualify for it, and then there

is a wait sometime, but not for very long. Call SCE and inquire about

the program and get an application through them sent to you. Its easy

and a great program. There is also your phone book, and look up

agencies around your area that also can help and advise.

With all that said, good luck in your new place!

  2. Ohh. Thats a big problem. But there is no need to throw away those and buy a new one especially if you are in a budget.

Here are some of my ideas:

    >Why don't you try to refurbish the furnitures you have rather than dumping them. Refurbishing them yourself could save money or ask others to do it for you. Or

    >Sell the furnitures you have and use the money to add to your budget. Or

    >Temporarily, use fabrics to hide your furnitures imperfectness. Cover your couches with a beautiful blanket or cover sewn just for it. The TV would work as beautiful side table hidden under a cover, no one would notice. Of course these are temporary. You could remove those things if you have the money. Of course why throw them if they still works?

    >I don't know how ugly your refrigerator is, but with a little cleaning, preparing the surface and two coats of paint, and some paint effects if you like, you can have something that you might like to show off.

    > There is no furniture that a few coat of paint can freshen up. Just have it vigorously cleaned and sand papered and brushed with paint of a lovely color.

    >There are people out there who sells for a small price and even throws good furnitures away. Maybe you have a neighbor who fit this category. These is your chance. Just make sure the furniture is in good order. Check that they are still sound and sturdy. Don't be revolted by scratches and flacking paints, with a little cleaning, sanding, carpentry, magic of paint, and your own creativity, you can turn this ugly, throw aways to treasure worth showing off in your room.

Am I just too frugal? Maybe I am. These Ideas needs a lot of effort and creativity, but it may be worth the money saved. I hope they helps.

  3. IKEA!!! Great modern furniture, ridiculously low prices!!!! I love IKEA you can do an entire bedroom for $500. I know that sounds crazy, but it's true, and its not cheap furniture it's really modern and chic, request a catalog at IKEA.com. I'm in GA I know that we have a few I'm not sure if there are any in CA but they deliver (; Let me know if I was any help!
