  1. This is the advice I gave to another person earlier in the week:

Here is the link to the Bordeaux tourist office English website:

    http://www.bordeaux-tourisme.com/uk/prep...

on this page you can look at the promotional holidays offered by the tourist office. I did one of their trips in 2004, had a wonderful time. The price was excellent value, got to visit two "chateau" vineyards, had a walking tour of the town and had B&B included in the price in a 3* hotel right in the town centre. The vineyard tour is probably better suited to wine connaisseurs than beginners, but as someone with basic general knowledge I still found it interesting and educational.

Bordeaux is a beautiful city and I recommend it. I also recommend the tourist office, they are easily the friendliest customer service I have had in France. Very competent too.

Even if you want to go for longer than their 2 night package, it's still an excellent way to discover the city at the start of your stay.

  2. Rent a car and drive south out of Paris to the Auxere region. You will be amazed at the labrynth of wine cellars under the towns and the wine is sensational along with being reasonably priced. We've enjoyed it enough to go back twice !

  3. Rent bikes in the bordeaux wineyard, free tasting in the main "chateaux", enjoy the landscape having a rest

    sounds good?

  4. Yes - Drink French
