we moved toTX (from CA) where police can fine you if you live your car unattended w/ engine running even while parked in a private parking lot, say ofc bldg or mall. Is this legal? Our car was towed while parked in an allotted prkg spot in our apt complex bec tag was expired. We filed for the vehicles non-operation that year w/ CA DMV (they were registered in CA). Is all these legal or infringement on private property rights?

  1. This is probably contained in your lease. The complex does not want unregistered (broke down)  vehicles in their lot.

  2. First, it is illegal throughout US to leave car running and unattended. This is common sense anyway, sad we need law.  Next, yes it is legal to tow your car. Nothing illegal or infringing. You must have vehicle licensed or stored. That is way law is. You should have read paperwork better and town laws as I am sure it tells you. We can only have 1 car licensed in our drive. All others must be garaged or stored, that is law and we OWN the property. Places must control this or otherwise people would park everywhere with expired tags.
