I'm with unicom for the phone - theyre ok but when I've phoned for broadband they said 'we cant put it on your existing line because its a multi number line' (2 line rentals, 1 number), going into a bt inspiration 6 extension switchboard. so they want to sell me another line at £100+, another monthly line rental £12 and 29.99 for the broadband. Cant I have the existing line enabled for data (one of them or is there only one?) and put a filter splitter in before it gets to the switchboard, and run a modem/router from there? The lad on the phone seemed to just be selling.. OR am I just tight. - but i only want it to do a bit of ebay etc inbetween jobs - not really for work.

  1. It sounds like your proposal is realistic.  Call back and press the question until they give you clear reasoning as to why it cannot be done.  Perhaps a different person will give you different answers. (different level of knowledge).  If need be, ask to talk to someone higher up at a higher technical level.
