What are your five ways you would change the NHL

1.Fire Bettman. Hire Don Cherry as the new NHL commissioner

2. 3 points for a win, 0 for a loss and 1point for a tie

3. if after a 20 minuit 4on4 OT its still a tie both teams leave with one point each

4.Relocate nashville the panthers and the coyotes to Quebec, Hamilton and Winnipeg

5.Make every team play every team in every stadium every year

  1. I have to come to conclusion that Puck Daddy is an idiot.

    This article sold me.

  2. 1) Abolish the instigator penalty. Worst rule in hockey.

    2) 3 points for a win, 0 for a loss, 2 for a OT win, 1 for a OT loss, keep the shootout.

    3) Add three Canadian teams in Quebec, Winnipeg and Southern Ontario. Take them from Nashville, Phoenix and Florida.

    4) Get rid of the stupid trapezoid. What was the point of that rule anyway?

    5) Some form of no touch icing. Someone is going to be killed someday.

  3. lol, i agree with u on 4 but not everything else.

    1. Cherry's better than Bettman for sure but the problem is that he believes that Canada is the greatest country in the world and we are wayyyyyy better than the Russians, Swedes, etc. I'm Canadian, and i believe we're the best but not by much and i think we should all respect the europeans because russians and swedes can beat canada on their day.

    2. um the points, i believe it should be 3 points for a regualtion win, 2 for a OT/SO win, 1 for a OT/SO loss, 0 for a regulation loss.

    3. leave it the way, nothing wrong with it except maybe go to 5 shooters instead of 3

    5. i wish but the problem is travel and fatigue, u want the players to be at their best. i like this new schedule but they should make sure that each team visits each stadum at least twice a year.

one more thing, more fighting allowed. referees should be lenient and not call an instigator unless it's really obvious.

  4. 1. Forget the 3 points for a win rule. And why should you be rewarded with a point for a game you didn't win? (tie). Keep two points for a win, no points for anything else, and have a winner each game like in the mlb or nba. having a w-l record is way easier than the old w-l-t-otl.

    2. Get rid of the shootout. Yes its fun and exciting, but it makes for uneven overtimes. Why should a defensive-minded team be penalized by the game going to a shootout where they have no chance? Make every game like a playoff game, overtime until somebody scores. and if no one goes for that, then have 5 on 5 then 4 on 4, 3 on 3 and so on until someone scores.

    3. Mandate visors or face masks for all players. This is for both the safety of the players and the pace of the game. How many times have you seen star players being hit in the face with a puck or a stick? Face masks. How many accidental high-sticking penalties have been taken because someone started bleeding. Face masks.

    4. The new schedule for this year looks better than the past, but i'd still like to see more teams each year. I would have 2 games (i at each arena) against every team outside your division (east and west) and 4 games inside your division. That would make for a 70 game season, which would help fatigue-related injuries around the league. This would also mean that the fans of every team would get to see every player, every year.

    5. If those 4 changes took place, i would be extremely happy with the league. the only other thing to change would be seasons tickets in my hand.

  5. I have one idea.

Get rid of the 5 worst teams in the league ( would like to say 8 but 5 makes an even division)

And move them to western Europe.

Form an international Division.  Teams can have road trips of upwards of 10 games.

    I think it would work..

and dont tell me major international cities in Sweden, England, Finland, Germany wouldnt be able to support them!

    :)

    cheers

  6. 1-- All that would improve there would be VIVID colored sweats..

    2-- Good one

    3-- Good one

4-- LOL- How original.. None of those cities are even on the short list for expansion possibilities, let alone relocation..  Hows about relocating  Edmonton and Ottawa to Gulf Shores, Alabama and Mexico City??

    5-- Good one

  7. 1. Relocation and Retraction: Winnipeg gets there team back, Quebec gets the Preds, and the Islanders move to Hartford.  Florida and Atlanta get the ax.  The players making up those teams are then given to the rest of the league in a one round draft based on the previous season's placement.

    2. Fix Overtime: The point for an overtime loss is ridiculous, the shootout is anti-hockey and the overtime period is too short to get any offense going.  Extend the extra period to 10 minutes of four on four and bring back ties.

    3. Emphasize winning: 3 points for a win, no matter what.  I never really got this one until now.  It would make a win mean more and cut the tie point's importance by a third, making teams try harder in the overtime period.

    4. Original Names for the Conferences and Divisions: Back in the day, I thought it was pretty cool that the names weren't just regional like with the other sports.  I'd bring those back.  The divisions and conferences can still be regional but they will have the old names.

    5. Fix NBC's broadcast: This is gonna be a long one so brace yourself:

-Start broadcasting the games when the season is starting, not in mid February when the regular season is almost done.

-Add a Saturday Night game.  There's nothing else on TV that night.  It could bring in more casual viewers than an afternoon game.

-Bring back the actual studio in New York.  This whole studio at the Arena thing is dumb and half-assed.

-Staffing: Fire Pierre McGuire, get a real analyst for Doc Emmrick and use Al Michaels after football season is over (NBC owns him.  They should use him.).  Also, bring back Bill Clement to run the sudio and have John Tortorella and Cammi Granato provide analysis in studio.

-Have a spot in the broadcast to help explain some of the nuances of the game, like when CBC has a coach explain a play with help from some youngsters.
