“We've had a great year overcoming a lot of hardship,” says Nationals' manager Davey Johnson
Washington Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson is disappointed on his team’s overall performance in the 2012 Major League Baseball season.
After losing the final game of National League Division Series to the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday at Nationals Park in Washington, the Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson talked to the media and expressed his disappointment in detail.
"We've had a great year overcoming a lot of hardship, and to not go after them at the end was not fun to watch," Nationals' manager Davey Johnson said after the game his team played against the St. Louis Cardinals and lost in the end.
Johnson giving his team some last moment suggestions added, “I just told them it was a great year, it was nothing to hang your head about. We overcame a lot of problems. We proved our worth we just need to let this be a lesson and ... learn from it, have more resolve, come back carry it a lot farther.”
Johnson was right saying that they had a very good run in the 2012 MLB season. From the very beginning to the last stages, they certainly showed very strong and consistent ball play.
Nationals qualified into the post-season as National League East leaders with 98-64 win-loss along with .605 winning percentage.
Though it was a very good record, but now they have lost the chance to go further in the post-season when Cardinals thrashed them in Game 5 of NLDS.
Nationals’ manager apologised to the fans after receiving a humiliating defeat and said, “I'm sorry. We'll make it up to them next year. It was a fun ride, a lot of character. I really enjoyed managing them this year.”
Despite being consistent all season long, the Nationals could not finish off against the Cardinals on Friday when they were hammered big time with 9-7 final score.
It was certainly a disappointing performance by the Nationals as they not only lost the game but they also lost the series which could have given them a chance to play for the National League Championship Series.
