  1. Guess it depends where you're moving from...

Scotland (if you don't already live here) is a wonderful place.

Although I can't say much about whether or not you will be able to find a job you most definately will fall in love with Aberdeen. There's a lot of things to do there.

However in saying that the weather there seems to be slightly cooler than most places, but it's not like the weather ever gets nice in the UK!

Aberdeen has a good shopping area with all your big stores there, including John Lewis. It also has many restaraunts and lots of pretty parks to take your dog to if you have one.

If you do go, I'm sure you'll love it!

  2. You could always apply to the local newspapers Classified & Display Advertising Departments. The locals papers are The Press & Journal & its sister paper the Evening Express. The address is Lang Stracht, Mastrick, Aberdeen. Tel 01224 690222.

Aberdeen is quite cosmopolitan these days. The advent of oil means that people of all ages, nationalities & social backgrounds are now working & living in the area.

There are parks, pubs, castles, nature walks, museums, cinemas & Theatres. The nightlife in Aberdeen is fairly lively. However, property is quite expensive here.

  3. It is quite isolated - as it is miles away from Glasgow or Edinburgh.

It is very provincial but quite wealthy due to the oil industry. The locals are a strange bunch and have a funny dialect.

The arts and social scene is limited by okay for a town of its size.

The Westend is quite nice and some lovely countryside round it.

The weather can be freezing in winter.

Advertising jobs are limited in Aberdeen but I wonder whether you could work remotely for one of the advertising companies in Edinburgh or London.

    Hope this Helps

  4. where ru coming from?

the main thing people take a while to get used to is the weather, an Indian friend of mine jokes she has to take sunglasses and an umberella everywhere cos u never know how the day is going to turn out.

it is a culturally diverse city, on my street there are delis, hairdressers and supermarkets that are polish, african and asian, probably more

the beach is so pretty as are the numerous parks, drive for a few miles and you will be in the beautiful countryside, royal deeside is so close.

also depends on your interests, if you are a city lover, you might find Aberdeen too small but if you're a country lover you will absolutely love it, like I do :)

  5. I find Aberdeen too isolated for my liking - it takes ages to get anywhere by road or rail, but flying is really expensive. Shopping is adequate, though not fantastic, though I think they are trying to improve it having realised that many people are choosing to go to Edinburgh, Glasgow or Dundee for a day's shopping. It's cold, and even 'hot' days the temperature struggles to reach 20 degrees. Aberdeen also has a big problem with neds, (like chavs in England, only worse), but also with seagulls. Be prepared to clean seagull poo off your car on a weekly basis!!

Aberdeen does have its good points, but 5 years here as a student is too long, and I am looking forward to escaping.
