So, if the U.S Media label Jews as Jewish Immigration

or Islamists as Muslim-Arab Immigration,

Why they never say " Catholic Immigrants " ??

  1. It is out of fashion At one time they did with the Irish in the mid 19th century - Papists!

    Regards,

    Michael Kelly

  2. The Spanish "made" you Catholic. Before they killed, stole,

and destroyed your world, you were fine. Your culture today

    is because of the Spanish.

  3. Latino refers to a culture?  So Mexicans and Spanish, Aztecs, Haitians, Pueto Rican, etc have the same culture.  Wow.  You learn something every day.  In my opinion, it is a term used to divide a certain population and group them for political reasons having nothing to do with religion, culture, or origin.

  4. Not all immigrants from Mexico or South America are Catholic.

    Good luck

  5. that would be just like any other free culture. you can be the religion of your choice.

  6. on top of some interesting responses I have already seen - Catholics are already a very large part of the US population and have been for a very long time.  However muslim immigrants (from many countries and areas of the world) is a relatively recent phenomenon.

Catholic immigrants would also include people from - Spain, Ireland, Italy, France, Poland...... and many more beyond Mexicans.

  7. Jewish, that is an ethnic and cultural group.  Arab Muslims are usually law-abiding citizens but there is always the understandable issue of security.  It's not my fault but I wouldn't stereotype.  The American media is racist towards Arabs and misunderstands Islam.  I would not accuse the Europeans of this.

In France, it is a different set of issues.  Algerians are an angry bunch of intolerant people and that is characteristic of them, especially the men.  Their cultural and religious values are taken to an extreme, to the point that they insist on forcing it on other people and their own.  It is not the Moroccans who are doing this.  There can be extremists from any country, but they don't make much of an appearance in contemporary Jordanian, Turkish and Moroccan society.  It goes country-by-country.  I'll get flack about the Algerians but it's better to put the blame where it belongs than to stereotype all people of an ethnic group and faith, as if they are all inherently the same.  Turks and Iranians are not Arab and do not follow necessarily the same sect of Islam.  There are minorities of other religions (and ethnic groups) in the Middle East as well, such as the Sufis, the Druze, Arab Christians, Baha'is, Mithraic Jews, etc.

  8. Because there is not a political situation like Northern Ireland's or Serbia's, where the antagonism is between branches or flavours of the Christian Church. Was there a conflict like these two, I am absolutely certain that the media will start labelling Mexicans as "Catholic immigrants".

On the other hand, since the US is apparently a Catholic country as well, labelling the Mexicans as "Catholic" would make Americans as the real aliens instead!

  9. many mexicans are catholics. my wife who is mexican is catholics. on the other hand i am sure there are some mexican immgrants whose religious ideology goes back to aztec or mayan times.
