We accepted a personal check from a charity.When we deposited they said it was an acitve account.?

My problem is if this is a scam would we get into trouble.I realize if we spend it and it's a scam we will have to give the money back.We aren't spending it.

I don't understand your problem.  An active account is good.  An inactive account is bad, and your bank wouldn't have accepted your deposit. Check with your bank.
