  1. In reality I like to accomplish what I set out to do.

It doesn't matter to me what the original design or purpose was of an item.... If I can accomplish a new reason to use something, that has been tossed aside, or in the trash, I have met my goal....reduce reuse recycle,  very cool.   Now that's an accomplishment!

Thank you for your question!  :-)

p.s. This is my very first post here.... Great place, cool ideas!

  2. If we lived like we did in the 1950's we wouldn't have anything to recycle. We grew our vegetables in the garden, We canned our food and use the same containers for years and the goods we did purchase we purchased in bulk using our own containers. We raised, slaughtered and preserved our own Chicken, Pigs, and Cows plus we shot a few deer each year. Their was nothing more fun than related families getting together to kill and butcher animals.

  3. I hope you posted this question to evoke some interesting debate.  Otherwise, you are completely misinformed.  Unless you're just fine with your grandchildren living next door to the neighborhood landfill, because they're filling up fast!

  4. It gives me extra money,

Beside the less they have to burn at the local landfill, the fresher the air is.

  5. How do you come to that conclusion? Every item we recycle means that much less going into a landfill or being incinerated. Every ounce of metal we recycle means that the finite supply will last that much longer. Every piece of paper we recycle means our forests can be used for something other than printing.

We have been recycling for decades and it has helped conserve our resources. We need to step our efforts, we are burying ourselves in garbage and running out of places to put it. Someday people will be mining landfills for metals and other resources.

More important we need to be reducing the need for recycling, Reduce packaging and complete the cycle buy recycled.

  6. Maybe it won't accomplish as much as we want it to, but even small steps are steps.  I don't agree that it won't accomplish anything.  Recycling means less extraction and original manufacturing in addition to the reduced landfill waste.

  7. i think everyone should spend some time in a landfill. they are enriching and build character; something the younger generation could certainly use

  8. Yeah,if you create more than recycle like nowadays,it still won't be able to solve anything!

Actually,we should REDUCE and REUSE,in the 3R(Reduce,Reuse and Recycle),they located in front of Recycle because thats the best way to solve landfill problem.

Let say,one million different style of handphones produced each year,if everyone REDUCE(not buying it or try NOT to buy more than needs),less old handphone will be dumped into the landfill!Same as REUSE,everyone gave it to Third-World Country their old handphone,it also reduce the number!Last, only no other solution,we use RECYCLE!
