Well, men were largely indifferent.

Most of the resistance against women's right to vote came from other women.

This is common knowledge history.

No.  The early feminists were too dangerous.  Blowing up houses and burning down churches wasn't really that cute.

I wasn't alive when the feminist  movement started...I think it started in the 19th century when women fought for abolition of black slavery and realized that they too were enslaved. I think that most white men probably felt attacked by the very concept of women's rights and women's freedom from males...today we still have a lot of immature men who are the same way.
