Question:

We all love our dogs but are you aware?

Today I received an email on helping to remind people that puppy mills are not the only mills that need stopping. It seems animals of all kinds are being milled, including rabbits, ducks, horses, and nearly every kind of small pet you can think of. I was also asked to spread the word that Georgia is very high on the scale of animal abuse and neglect now. Many of the miller in Georgia are taking their animals across the N.C. state line to sell. So when looking for pets of any kind, would everyone please use the same cautions that we use when considering the purchase of a dog? Thank you.

  1. I knew about ferret mills, and cat mills, but wasn't aware it spread over even to horses and other animals.....

Not in the market for any other type of pet myself, but I will keep this in mind in case I meet anyone looking for a pet other than a dog :)....

My question is...most of us know about finding reputable dog breeders, are there any guidelines for finding a reputable rabbit or duck breeder?  Shows?  Health tests?  I suppose I could go online and find out what all you're supposed to check for :).

  2. thanks for spreading the word.

  3. Unfortunately, you don't hear about it much.  Exotic birds, cats, too.
