  1. You are going to be fine, even if you are/ have orthodox Jewish in your group. If there are, prepare for the occasional odd look, as the side locks and black clothes will not be an everyday sight,  even in cities with larger jewish communities like Berlin and Munich. However, I guess most people would (if they dared to, which no one will, I guess) ask you if you are Mormon as soon as ask if you are jewish.

Other than that: all you have to worry about is the normal touristy stuff. Keep your wallets close in areas where there are lots of peole and you are easily picked out as tourists. And if you are lost and need to check your map, have someone from the group keep an eye out for people standing uncofortably close to your bags and belongings.

However, Germany is one of the safest countries in the world. Enjoy your trip and have fun.

  2. Yeah preparing for war as to who gets to wear the funny mustache LOL

It is perfectly safe, in fact safer than most places in the US!!

An attack  I almost fell over laughing, most I have met are so drunk they can't even prepare a drink or proper speech let a lone a war LOL.

    Just silly propaganda

  3. Nothing to worry about at all.

Germany is our best friend and closest ally.

You ll be fine there enjoy your trip.

  4. Germany is one of the savest countries in the world.

Don't believe that n**i nonsens and no-go areas that people try to spread around. We don't have any no-go areas for anyone.

There are areas that have problems with unemployment and all the problems that come with it but you don't find any tourist attractions in those areas anyway.

n**i's are a very small group and you find them in any other country of the wastern world, we have them under control, don't worry.

  5. YES it is safe.  Germany makes it illegal now to do any sort of the n**i hand gestures or their flags or anything.  In fact, I believe there are some laws/restrictions about making movies about that stuff in their country.  They recently banned people from doing the arm thing at soccer games and such.  There will probably be those random few people who are that way but those kind of people are everywhere.  And i highly doubt that there will be people everywhere who go around looking for Jews and stuff.

  6. As far as perceution?!? No, you will not have to worry about that. That stopped almost 70 years ago. Nor will anyone have anything against you like you were bad blood. You would be viewed as anyone else. I will agree with the Kosher comment. If you're praticing it will be difficult. Germany is very big on pork and likes cream sauces with meats. You could go all starch, but keep in mind that a lot of frying is done with Schmalz, which is pig lard.

  7. Are you trying to stir up something? Why don't you do some laundry?

  8. שלום חברים!

I am German and you don't really have to worry about attacks or similar stuff in our country. Last year, a Rabbi in Frankfurt got attacked by an Arab with a knife but, to be honest, this could happen to you all over the world, even in Israel.

The problem you'll probably have is getting Kosher food. There aren't any signs on food packages if the stuff is Kosher or not. German jews who live Kosher usually have a list with all kind of products which are Kosher. This is a list of an orthodox group but unfortunately only in German (http://www.ordonline.de/component/option...

The fact is, there is Kosher food here but it's hard to find if you don't know what is Kosher or not.

But back to your question. There are some n***s in Germany indeed but I've heard that there are even n***s in Israel and other countries so it is not a "typical German problem". The German people have learned a lot from their history and the most appreciate Jews, especially Holocaust survivors a lot.

    יום טוב. ביי ביי.

Edit: Do not pay attention to ageha's comment.

The thing that the east is the poorhouse of Germany and that there are more n***s than in the west is only a big prejudice. As you may see on my picture my skin is not that white and I live in "east Germany" and I _NEVER_ got in any trouble because of the way I look and I very, very, rarely see any n***s or something similar even if I visit all kind of places here I've ever been welcome and never had any trouble with racists or so. Especially Leipzig, Dresden and Weimar are nice places with much (good) history I really recommend to visit. To be honest, I ran into more n***s in some small villages in the west as I ever saw here in the east.

  9. Beware of East Germany. It's the poorhouse of Germany and because of that the stronghold of the German neonazi scene. It's dangerous to show you are left winged or just of another political opinion there. It's even more dangerous for people with a dark skin or who look different in other ways. And there are many reports about non-action of the east-german police in cases of neonazi attacks - because they are frightened of or sympathize with these *****.

When you don't show you are Jewish, nothing may happen. Or when you keep to the big Cities and tourist attractions there. But I would not recommend to visit smaller towns.

  10. it is very safe now but there are signs that the neo n***s are preparing for war

  11. Kosher food.

It is really going to be your worst worry, since it is practically non-available unless you are willing to compromise so far as to go vegetarian or eat in muslim halal restaurants (pork-free but not really kosher).

For the average non-religious Jewish American or Israeli Germany is a very very safe place to travel in. (Safer than Israel, guaranteed.)

Sure, we do have a small group of racists and "eternally stuck in the past"- people as well as other extremists that once in a  while threaten synagogues and other decidely Jewish facilities. Nothing has happened in years though.

So as mostly non-religious Jews your biggest risk will be having your wallet stolen (just like every other tourist). Don't advertise your Israeli passport or your Jewishness to each and all sundry, relax, go with the flow of all the other tourists and and enjoy your holiday.

For the average religious (ultra)orthodox Jew who attends the synagogue, goes to the small number of kosher restaurants and shops selling kosher food, has long peyots dangling from the side of his face and walks around in the traditional Chassidic garb the risk is slightly higher since he is a very easy target (people will stare! it is so unusual!), making Germany merely "a safe destination if some precautions are taken".

Short: If you do not wear clothes that mark you out as Jewish  you will not stand out of the crowd, and if you don't stand out of the crowd you won't be a target and thus you shouldn't have anything to worry about at all.

Ironically: If there is racism, it is most likely to be directed at Turkish and Arab migrants, the majority of them being muslims. And the muslims in Germany would also be the first ones to cry bloody murder if anybody put a hair on a jew out of place. The spokespeople of the Jewish community might be very vocal and relatively influential in politics but apart from that... With only a few hundred-thousand Jews in Germany Jews are hardly noticeable in daily life. Plus quite a number of the Jews living in Germany are descendants of those who considered Germany their home country even after WW II, thus they are very well integrated into German society as a whole. There is absolutely no reason for hostility against Jews from the average German.

  12. I am Jewish and I travel to Germany often - both business and pleasure. Most parts of Germany are very safe - west Germany is wonderful. Be careful in East Germany - esspecially Rostock, Brandenburg, Berlin, Magdeburg, Cottbus are dangerous. People attack jews every day there - I have been attacked. The econonmy is not doing well and they blame it on us ( and blacks and Turks....) Sad.

On the other hand - the state of Hamburg has a Jewish leader - Cologne, Duesseldorf, Munich, Luebeck are great places to visit.

I spend a few weeks in Hamburg every year - Germany´s boomtown.

  13. what's that stupid n**i doing here again? Geier55

stupidity is the general committment of n***s and you know them by their stubborn minds.

one fact: the jewish population in germany and specially in Berlin is growing by more than 10% by year.
