We are having trouble picking out a theme or kind of party to have for them. My niece gave her children to us, she keeps having children to try and trap a man into a situation, when the man leaves her she gives her child(ren) away! It's sad and we don't speak anymore. But our adoption is almost final and we are trying to plan a party!

  1. A party I planned for my sister's twin's - boy and girl - was a pink & blue party.  Clothes, decorations, as much food as we could find (pink lemonade, blue Hawaiian Punch, M&Ms, watermelon, blueberries, etc), pinatas, etc. were all pink and blue.  Of course yours should have a welcome to the family or adoption birthday theme. (My sister-in-law is adopted and the family always celebrates her adoption birthday as well as her actual day of birth.)  Good luck and enjoy your new additions!

  2. umm

    Pirates of the Carribean?

    or Transformers

    a Hawaiian themed?

  3. When we adopted our son we were told to go easy on loud noisy celebrations for a while by our social worker. Its a time for great loss for the child. However bad their home and parents were it was still the only home they knew. So it would be appropriate and compassionate to children and yes, their wicked, wicked mother who keeps having children, to scale down celebrations till everyone has had the chance to integrate.

  4. kids love animal themes & princess/prince themes & you can get so many more ideas from costume stores! =] good luck and Congradss!

  5. Congratulations on your new babies!  Why not just do a summer pool party/BBQ or luau since it is summer.  Put the kids in little hawaiian shirts (they have little grass skirts at Target) and make fruity punch and pineapple treats.  Put big cheesy flowers up and you can even let the 3 year old do some finger painting on the flowers.  If you wanted to make it more of a kids theme, the Wiggles are great and they are not gender specific.  You could play Top of the Tots and have everyone wear a Wiggles color.  Enjoy your new little ones and have a great adoption day party!

  6. What about Lilo and Stitch? KUDDOS TO YOU BOTH! You are doing a great thing. BEST WISHES to you, your husand and the newest additions to your family!

  7. How old are the children? Spongebob Squarepants or Dora the Explorer seem to be popular with young kids, and Harry Potter is great for older kids. Otherwise, you could just do a zoo theme. That's pretty simple and effective. Although the circumstances are awful, I congratulate you on your new son and daughter! May you give them the love and attention they deserve. Good luck!

  8. why not a water party...ya know like water balloons..filll a kids pool up..slip and slides a sprinkler and let them run through.stuffl like that they are little so they should be very happy with that.

  9. i think dora and diego and spongebob and the doodlebops and boobah and clifford the big red dog and thats all i can think of.but i hope u find somthing u lik

  10. I think Raggedy Ann and Andy would be perfect.  The colors are nice and bright, and they represent a boy and a girl.

Have fun!  And congratulations on your new son and daughter.

  11. do a jungle themed celebration or a beach themed party !!

  12. maybe if theyre young do a prince and princess theme....im sorry for the way it has happened - she needs a good slap (no offense) but yeah thats what my aunty did for my baby cousins first birthday...get the girl a tiara and the boy a crown.... :D

  13. 1-Raggedy Ann and Andy

    2-Dora and Diego

    3-The Wiggles

    4-Super Heroes

    5-Toy Story

    6-Disney (Mickey and Minnie)

  14. I would probably go with Dora or something...it would be good for the girl & the boy is too young to think that Dora is "girlish".

I think it's BEAUTIFUL that you're providing these children with the love and stability they need.

  15. Seriously, did you really have to dump on your children's mother of origin in such a public venue when it's absolutely unrelated to the question of party themes?

As for the theme, maybe a luau theme since it's summer time.

  16. at that age they probaby both like winnie the pooh! so how bout that?

or like a castle theme, with princesses and princes

or something out of the ordinary like frogs!(the kids will like that)

    a zoo theme?

congrads on the adoption almost being final!

  17. Hi,

I am a foster parent, and we are currently in the process of adopting one of our foster sons.

Also, he will be turning one, near the time that our 22 month old will be turning 2, so we are having a combo party.

We are making it a 'carnival' theme.  We rented a moonbounce (we have a 5 1/2 year old as well) and we are looking into a clown type entertainer. We are also going to cookout.

If you are lucky enough to have good weather and a backyard, I think a cookout would be a good way to go. No mess inside, and people love to help out by bringing a dish- so it helps cut out on the expense.

  18. Winnie the Pooh. Fyi..i gave up a baby to a great couple 4 yrs ago...:) i just wanted to say thank you to adoptive families who take such great care of the children :) BY the way...I wanted my son more than anything, thats why i chose to give birth to him and give him to people who can provide for him what i could not.. i dont ever want his parents saying I did not want him..that is the furthest from the truth

  19. have a Dora AND Diego party or a summer splash or combine the two . . i mentioned dora and diego because little girls and boys love those characters
