We are from Utah & just want out of here. Better pay cheaper homes. Maine seems like great pay & very cheap homes if you don't live inner city. (which we like quiet country) but I have heard more than once now that Maine folks don't take kindly to outsiders. We have 5 kids I don't want them to struggle making friends. HELP!

  1. I know how you feel I moved from the mid-west to Texas and was called a Yankee for 2 years but getting involved in their culture and lives through work church and social events sure opened doors and acceptance.

  2. People in New England are very old fashioned and love their privacy. Also New Englanders do not like change!

So in turn we are viewed as not accepting outsiders.

Here is a tip, get involved with the community. Theatre, Rotary clubs, Lion's Club, 4-H, Town Meetings, Church, etc. This will help you get your foot in the door, especially in a small New England Town!

I was born and raised in New Hampshire!

  3. Maine is beautiful and I think the people will be great too and if you meet rude people out there don't let it hold you back.

    lots of luck!
