We are dealing with an incomplete set of facts and speculation: Mark Attanasio – MLB News
The Milwaukee Brewers’ owner Mark Attanasio, in a released statement, said on Sunday December 11, that the controversy surrounding the slugger, Ryan Braun, is that of an incomplete set of facts and speculations so far.
Emphasising the fact that until the player is heard, there does not have to be any rush to judgement. The confidential program has its specific review process that needs to be followed.
“We are dealing with an incomplete set of facts and speculation. Before there is a rush to judgment, Ryan deserves the right to be heard. We are committed to supporting Ryan to get to the truth of what happened in this unfortunate situation.”
The situation indeed is unfortunate given the stature of the player and the things at stake. The ever strong slugger, with .312 batting average, having had 531 RBIs and 161 homers in the five seasons he has played with the Brewers as he occupies a prominent
place in the club.
In 2011, there remains no doubt whatsoever that, it was Braun who with 33 homers and .332 average helped the team notch up the National League Central Title. He was also instrumental in the Brewers making it all the way to National League Championship with
no less than 111 RBIs to his credit throughout the season, having had 33 stolen bases.
For Mark Attanasio, taking a banned substance is a serious offence. He believes that Braun has remained a model citizen and a person of character and integrity. Thus, he needs to be heard prior to making any judgement.
"As a father, I take the use of prohibited substances seriously, because I know the effects they have on the body and a person's life. I want the community to know that we support drug testing not only because it’s MLB policy but because it is the right
thing to do.”
Ryan Braun had dismissed it himself. But nothing at this stage could be said with certainty as reports continue to trickle in. While Braun has a lot of support from fans and the team, the positive drug test may seriously impact his career, something that
he will not want at all.
