  1. As I recommended in some other postings before, get a "Bayernticket" at the train station. The regular price is 26 euros for up to five people (be aware that it's only valid from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. the following day), but if you pay two euros more, the folks at the travel info at the station will print you out a detailed plan for the date and time you require.

You can also check it out online:

    http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.e...

Enter "Ulm" as starting point and "MUC" as destination. Enter time and date, and UNCHECK "prefer fast connections". Then click "search connection".

Don't rely on the price shown. Check out this site

    http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en...

for more information on the "Bayern-Ticket".

  2. When arriving at Munich airport you need to take the S-Bahn (local train) to Munich central station.

Go to the counter right at the entrance to the subway and ask them for a ticket to Ulm it will be valid for S-Bahn and normal train as well.

I wouldn't recommend to use the Bayernticket, unless you're really strapped for money. You are only allowed to use the slow trains and it takes at least 1 hour longer...

Once you arrive at Hauptbahnhof your best option is to continue with an ICE or IC train, they are the fastest and nicest ones.

They go at least every hour and it takes about 1h 20 min to Ulm without having to change trains.

You can buy your ticket either online or at the counter. I'd recommend to buy it at the counter, because online you can get great discounts, but then you are bound to that train. If your plane is late, you will miss your train and the ticket is not valid on any other train...

  3. At the air terminal you go to the info counter and ask. I think there is a Eurorail there, so you can ask what time, where, and price. There is different classes of trains, so you will know how much you want to spend and how fast you want to get there. Being Ulm is not a major city there probably will not be an "Ice" train that goes there. The clerk will inform you.

Depending on your booking arragements sometimes the ticket you booked was to your destination. Which means your train fare would be included in you ticket. Check to make sure. I know years ago mine was.
