What route is the best way to drive from Kilkenny to Dingle? How long will it take and are the roads over there as narrow as we read? Any input will help. thanks.

  1. The road from Dublin airport cuts straight to Limerick.  If you have to make a detour to Kilkenny, it will make it longer by about an hour.   The Dublin/Limerick road is now very good and you can make Limerick in about 1 1/2 hours.  Then the fun begins.  From Limerick there are a couple of routes so stick very carefully to the map - a good map at that.   Have a wonderful time, it is a beautiful part of the country.

By the way, did you ever hear this about Kilkenny:  'If ever you go to Kilkenny, look out for the Hole in the Wall, you get twenty-five eggs for a penny, and butter for nothing at all'...............

  2. I am not sure because I do not drive but you could try these websites

I know that driving from Dublin to Cork City takes a good 5 hours maybe less depending on traffic etc.

This is Dingle's tourist office information you can call them and ask for information.

  3. Distance:  350km including 66km on motorways

Time:  04h25 including 00h39 on motorways

  4. you are going to have a blast. remember, drive on the left side. some of the roads are, and the hedges are high, so sometimes the scenery is blocked off, but mostly it is wonderful, and the traffic on the two lane roads is usually not too heavy. if you get a chance, go to Findus House bed and breakfast....and let the owner cook you dinner. about 20 euros, but worth it, and her roses should be beautiful this time of year...was this time last year, anyhow! and ask her husband if he would sing for you...actually, if you chat him up in the parlour, he may just start doing it.

  5. yes the roads outside main towns are narrow ..2 cars can't pass each other ...dont forget to see Connors Pass when you are there ..its an amazeing sight to see...have fun and enjoy your holiday
