We are glad to have Yuvraj back in the dressing room: Dhoni – Cricket News Update
Indian skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yuvraj-Singh-c98364 back among their ranks (following the all-rounder’s return after recovering from cancer), and anticipate a livelier atmosphere in the dressing room.
“When Yuvraj was not there Virat had taken upon that job,” Dhoni said. “We missed Yuvraj as a character in the dressing room apart from his batting skills. With him being back the atmosphere in the dressing room will become livelier again.”
Yuvraj last played with the Men in Blue during a Test series against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in November last year. Health concerns had arisen during India’s 2011 World Cup triumph, (during which Yuvraj played a starring role, winning the Player of the Tournament
award), which saw the 30-year-old suffering nausea and breathing problems, in addition to coughing up blood.
When checked, he was diagnosed with mediastinal seminoma, a rare form of germ-cell cancer, with a tumour located in between his lungs. Yuvraj was flown to the United States for treatment in January this year, and underwent three sessions of chemotherapy.
Following his successful treatment, and subsequent return to India in April this year, the all-rounder was initially hesitant about making a comeback to cricket, stating that he had no such plans as yet.
However, he eventually revealed that he had set his sights on the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750’s upcoming two-match
T20I series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
The southpaw, who was named in India’s preliminary 30-man squad for the World Twenty20, undertook fitness sessions at the National Academy of Bangalore, and his recovery reports, when assessed by the selection panel, were deemed satisfactory enough to include
him in India’s 15-man T20I squad for the series against New Zealand.
The first T20I is scheduled to take place on September 8 at Visakhapatnam, while the second will be played in Chennai on September 11.
With a looming chance of playing for the national team after a prolonged hiatus, Yuvraj expressed his eagerness and nervousness about making a comeback post-recovery.
“I am feeling good. I have worked hard for the last two months. I am nervous. I never thought I will get another chance (to play for India). I feel as if it is the first game for me,” he said.
