  1. Dusie and Stella gave you correct answers.  You do not need a passport for SEA travel until after summer 2008.  However, some cruise lines require passengers to have passports even though the law does not, so it is best to call them and ask.  Also, as they said, it is wise to go ahead and get a passport at this time while the rush is not bad.  The rush will return next summer!  See website below and read top half of the page to verify this passport info.

  2. Not in 2007, but in 2008 you will. Now is actually a great time to apply for one. The backlog of the last a 6 months is gone. The current times for getting a passport from the time of application is back to 6 to 8 weeks. Sooner if you expedite or just have a renewal. If you wait until all the people who are going to be required to get one in 2008 then you may miss your trip because your application is stuck in yet another backlog.

  3. yes you do. and get it as soon as you can- there is still a waiting time for them.

  4. Land, sea and air you need to present your US passport. Apply as soon as you can, Jan 1, 2008 is coming up fast.

  5. Yes, and you can no longer travel if you have just the proof that you have paid to process your passport (that expired on Sept 30th 2007). You have to have a passport by boat or by plane. You can expedite it...but it's a c**p shoot. Mine took 5 weeks but a friend did hers at the same time (but in a different part of the state) and it was only 10 days.

  6. Hi,

Yes we do!!! I've made the trip to Cancun three times and the Rule or Law is our Home Land Security people require passports on all forms of transportation. On your Cruise-ship you will have to present your passport on your return from each Port of Call you make. They could or will screen all your purchases and carry-on when you return from each Port of Call. The security is very strict, however, real easy as long as you go along with their requests.

    Have Fun

  7. Not to worry, If you leave from a US port and return to a US port, you do not need a passport to cruise. To fly, you need a passport. Those are the rules for 2007. In 2008, the rules may change to require passports.
