  1. if you can take the drive from Anchorage to the Kenai peninsula maybe even drive all the way to Homer and enjoy dinner on the spit, take time to stop and take photos well worth it... have fun

  2. Train tour around Mt McKinley with the open viewing car, awesome. Traveling and dining on the train, listening to stories, poems, and viewing the mountain in all its glory absolutely amazing. Juneau has the Red Dog saloon with the best prime rib sandwiches ever. Lots of native culture, jewelry, and crafts to check out. Interblended cultures in various communities with visual cues such as architecture and statues. Juneau has a gold panning barbeque, Skagway offers garnet jewelry, Fairbanks and Anchorage are alot of fun to check out. Anchorage has outside (the lower 48) foods (McDonalds and such) but each area has its own unique characteristics. Try to get on a glacier tour either by helicopter, boat, or car. Don't go too close if you get to Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau it does ocassionally calve producing large waves that can be dangerous (this is true of all glaciers but it actually happened to me). In Ketchikan there is a large eagle population, moose still wander around, and there are still sightings of bears within the city limits of some towns. Take cameras, jackets, rain gear, film, and medications. Have a sense of adventure and if you travel up the inside passage watch for whales. Enjoy.

  3. On the land tour part We went to Husky homestead near Denali park. it was the Jeff Kings home( a great musher and 4 time ididirod winner). That was totally awesome and enlighten. The during the cruise, we took the white pass railroad. That was by far my favorite excursion while on the cruise itself. Loved this cruise very much and plan on going again.

  4. If you are interested out of Ketchikan they have a ship set up like Deadliest Catch, it goes to Angle Island (much calm water) & is not set up with all cruise lines yet. The train ride from Whitter outside Anchorage to Denali, The tour threw Denali Park & the Sternwheeler cruise in Fairbanks. In Ketchikan go to Salom Mall at end of pier great shops & prices. Whale watching - there is a park 1 mile outside of downtown Juneau you do not have to pay. Alaska T-Shirt good prices. Do not buy souvierners on ship. You should have received an excursion booklet too many to list. But, book them when you get there due to how everyone is feeling & possible weather. I have been 23 times & only rained once between ports for 2 hours.

    ENJOY.

  5. touring on the glaciers in a helicopter tour.

    it is amazing.
