  1. ~~Aloha RoMan~~To answer your first questions

Q-1) Is it the right time - hot? Rainy?

A-September is a great time to go..there Really Isn't a wrong time to go to Hawai'i..the weather stays pretty agreeable at all times of the year.

Q-2) Anything we should definitely bring with us?

A-Other than the typical..Swimsuit,Shorts,Sun-Screen etc...make sure you bring or buy Reef Shoes....there can be some sharp creatures on the Ocean Floor..especially in Waikiki..(you can find them at most ABC Stores and in Hotel Lobby Stores, about $20.00) also bring a Sweat-Shirt in case you get a cool evening, other than that ...pack lightly...you don't want to drag a bunch of luggage around.

    Q-3) To-Do Recommendations

A-I will post a list for Oahu and Maui Below

Q-4) Is is feasible to visit other islands (.e.g big island) - what is the cost of transportation between islands?

A-You CAN Island jump but being there for only 6 days and already visiting 2 Islands I wouldn't try to FIT another Island in on THIS trip otherwise you will be spending all your time at Airports....BUT if you DO decide you want to visit another Island, then YES there are Inter-Island flights daily for about $60-$100.00, depending on the time of the flight and the Day of the week)...try Hawaiian Air (my favorite)

  2. Anytime is right to go to Hawaii.  I just got back the a few days ago from maui and the weather was perfect.  It never rained or anything.  I would bring your swim suits.  On Maui I recommend the Road to Hana, ziplinging, surf lessons (on either island), and definitely visit lahaina and kaanapali beach.  I know that they jsut recently came out with the SuperFerry that goes to each island.  As far as I know it's not that expensive.  Have fun and enjoy it!

  3. In Maui in september last time I was there is rained alot during the day but it would come and go, and the sun would be out the rest of the time. If you plan on snorkling go out to molokini crater (sp?) That is by far the most amazing thing I have EVER done!

  4. Anytime is a good time to visit Hawaii. Do not miss seeing the Arizona Memorial. It would be fun to visit other islands, but you will have plenty to do where you are going. Have a lot of fun... but there is no way not to have fun in Hawaii.

  5. My husband was in the Navy, and we lived on Oahu for almost four years.

There are lots of free things to do, and they will be beautiful!

    DO:

***go to Hanauma Bay (on Oahu) ...take and underwater camera because lots of beautiful fish will come up to you in the water...especially if you feed them bits of crackers.

***shop at little mom & pop places along the highways because you can find beautiful shells at a fraction of the cost

***go to a seafood restaurant because the food is super fresh and great

***go to Waikiki Beach even if just to take a few photos

***go to the north beach on Oahu (do NOT get in that water because it is very dangerous!)

***go to Waimea Falls Park (Oahu)

***take a dinner cruise (spend a little extra here because it will make a difference in the food and the condition of the ship

    Do NOT:

***grab all of your stuff and run to your car if it starts raining while you're at the beach.   It is most likely a passing shower, and it will be over very quickly.

***buy things at Ala Moana shopping center because things are over-priced.   Go to look is okay.

***assume that because lots of folks are in the water at the north shore that it's a good idea to get in, especially if you have little kids.   The currents are deadly.

  6. we started out our vacation on Oahu

To _ do on Oahu  -->  Pearl Harbor

                                    Diamond Head

                                    Punchbowl Crater

                                    Pali Look out

Waikiki - although this is a busy beach

                                    North Shore - Waipahu

It is feasible to go to other islands - we traveled to Kauai as well.  The flight two years ago cost right around $45, not sure what it costs now

They also have a super ferry transporting your vehicle to and from islands now as well

    www.hawaiisuperferry.com

When we were there, it did rain almost daily, but it never stopped us from what we were doing.

On Maui I would definitely do -->    Lahaina,

                                                       KaÊ»anapali Beach

                                                       ʻĪao Needle

                                                        ÃƒÂŠÃ‚»OheÊ»o Gulch

Thats what I can think of right off the top of my head.  have a great vacation

  7. you r goin to big islands so the main thing you will need is your wallet. transportation between islands is alot. its not rainy but its like as hot as texas. if uve nvr been 2 tx then let me tell you its not that hot.

  8. 1)  It is always the right time to visit Hawaii.  The weather is never cold and never really hotter than 90.  It rains almost everyday, but just for about 15 minutes a day.  Sometimes it rains longer but not much.

    2)  Bring money and swim suits.  You can buy everything else you need there.

    3)  If you have the ability to cook, don't pay the high prices of eating out.  Just east of Honolulu there is a city where you can shop for food that is really inexpensive by Hawaii standards.  Go to at least one Luau.  The Polynesian Cultural Center is a great place to visit.  When on Maui go to the plantations and eat all the fruit that you can.  It is so fresh and good.  Take the sugar tour.

    4)  It is easy to go Island hopping.  You should catch a flight they leave all the time.  Hawaiian Arlines is the most reliable carrier in hawaii.  Visit their website for updated rates.  You will be on prop planes mostly so if you are afraid of flying you can nix that idea.  You have to visit the Big Island.  When you go you have to do 2 things, walk on the Volcano and drink the Kona Coffee.  The beaches are unbelievable.

The last recommendation that I have is to TAKE ME!!!
