  1. Passenger rail service is very limited and you won't see much of the country if you just take the train.  I would recommend renting a car.

  2. well i would defineately recommend renting a car only because then u can stop whenver you want to see points of interest. if time is an issue, drive out west then fly back, u can get one way car rentals some companies do this..check it out..

  3. Train is better!! That way you can see the views and you don't have to be stuck in traffic. If you want to pay the outragous gas price then you must a rich person! Or you might be stuck in traffic.. and all you see is a bunch of cars. Then you would feel bad cause your ruining the earth (Unless you don't care and like to be stuck in traffic? Then buddy, I'm jealous of you cause I can't stand traffic). BE ECO AND USE TRAIN!

  4. I would hire a car and go that way you can stop where you want for as long as you want.  Rail service in Canada in one word SUCKS.  To go to Toronto from where I live by train (5hrs) costs more for just me than it would for a whole car load and it takes about the same time.  Based on the last fill up $60 I could go to Toronto and back for $120 about the same price as a ticket for one.

Take the car and see the sights besides if you time it right you won't go into any city during rush hour anyway.

Have a good trip and safe home.
