We have not picked out the floor plan yet, we just know that we want a home of about 3000 square feet. We are purchasing the rough lumber and are wondering what the board feet are for this footage. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. wow. if you mean board feet of exterior siding. I will assume it's horizontal and covers approx. 8". I do not know how many windows and doors you have, so I'll leave them out. Also I'll assume it's a one story with 8' ceilings and 2 gable ends.

3000 sq. ft could be turned into a rectangle approx. 40' x 75'

x8' lets say....it takes 12 boards horizontally (to go 8') for a total ln. ft of......approx. 2760 ln ft.

Now if you mean board feet of stud walls that's a little trickier and you need to explain your floor plan...

  2. without a floor plan it would be hard to calculate.
