  1. Ok, things to consider when getting a duck:

Can we afford to keep it fed for the next 15 years?

Is there somewhere for it to swim?

Will it be a house duck or an ourdoor duck, and if a house duck will it be nappied? (suggesting www.thegoosesmother.com for harnesses)

Do you (or your neighbours) have any other pets and will they attack/be attacked by your duck?

How many ducks can you care for? Ducks are not solitary animals, so its generally best to get two, not one.

Do you have enough space in both the garden and (if appropriate) the house?

What will you do with it when you go on holidays?

There are a lot of good sources on duck care round the internet, so just do your research beforehand.

As for where to get one there are several options:

Buy an incubator, hatching eggs and a heat lamp and hatch it yourself. All of these can be found on ebay, or other websites. This will cost arround £70 for a rcom mini incubator, plus £5 or so for eggs. Heat lamp prices vary a lot, but can be bought for as little as £15.

Go arround your local pet stores until you find one willing to order in a duckling for you. (This is what i am currently doing).

    Ask arround local farms.

Look on the internet, there are sites that ship ducklings to you directly if you are in th USA, but this is more difficult in other countries.
