  1. My favorite is Tiger Maple, its grain is unlike most other common woods, and you dont pay the price that you would with exotic wood.


  2. Oak, maple, or pecan all all good, but any hardwood will work. If you're pinched for cash, poplar works well and has some interesting colorations.
