When our daughters adoption was finalized a year ago and I was able to find some party supplies for adoption. However, I didn't keep track of where I bought those items and now we are looking at finalizing our son's adoption after 15 long months and I was hoping to get some specific adoption party goods. Does anyone have any websites that I could find something like that?

Thank you!

  1. I don't understand what adoption party supplies are. If you're talking about adoption themed plates, napkins, cups, etc; I've never heard of that.

  2. You can celebrate without party supplies that are adoption related.  Everyone you invite will obviously know what the party is for.

  3. This site has some "gotcha day" balloons, but I'm not sure that's appropriate since you've had him for 15 mos.

    www.heartandseoul.com

These sites have some interesting adoption gifts, etc.

  4. Just get regular themed party supplies. I mean the congregation that my parents went too, threw us a party when i was adopted. there was no adoption releated party supplies. as i recall it had pretty designs on it. does it have to be adoption releated? just saying so you don't get stressed about looking for things.

  5. Finding adoption supplies are hard.  I struggled with finding announcements for finalization also - and we wanted to share the great news with everyone that we were finally a family.

Have you tried contacting a place that might be able to special order something for you?  Like perhaps a local party store?  Sometimes they have other things available that they don't have on the shelf because they don't sell it very often.

Another idea, which others have shared, is to involve your son and go with a theme of something he likes.  You can always make a banner or a sign that says "Celebrate Adoption" or "Celebrate Family".  Maybe your kids could even paint one - and the family could put their handprints all over it.

On our announcements, we used a TGIF theme - Thank God It's Final.  : )

    Good luck.

  6. I looked on line and couldn't find any Gotcha Day themes.

You could always go through a site that personalzes napkins for weddings, they can print what ever you want.

Print a banner on the computer or at Kinkos and just make everything else match the color.

  7. I understand your desire to have a party celebrating the long awaited finalization of your sons adoption. Good luck in your search for party supplies try Googling again.

  8. I suggest that you get creative and make your own as much as possible.  Get plain paper tableclothes and set out crayons. Ask guests to write first memories of your son or younger ones to draw pictures. Get those wicker bottoms for the paperplates and then you can insert something in them before the guests put their plate on them. (Think of the great ideas you can come up with on the computer for that!) Copy off little circle pictures of your son at different ages and using a very thin layer of white glue, glue to bottoms of clear plastic cups. They'll see his adorable little face every time they take a drink. :-) It's a lot harder to do it this way, but really much more fun and memorable. Good luck.

  9. I have to agree with CruzGirlz, an adoption party sounds like a big snore-fest.  YAWN.

I also agree with A Healing Adoptee, why not just have a regular party with regular nice decorations?  I mean, what's the point in plastering a room with "HAPPY ADOPTION!"  That's just weird.

  10. Is there a reason why you have to have an adoption theme per se?  Why  not celebrate the adoption in "tropical"  or "jungle" style or in your child's favorite theme?   This is to celebrate your child so how about picking something that your kids and the kids at the party would appreciate?  It would be more fun.  Honestly, I think "celebrate adoption" sounds kind of boring from a kid's (and adult's) point of view.  You can still let everyone know the reason for the party is to celebrate the adoption.

  11. orientaltrading.com or just google party supplies
