  1. laptop computers have screens that size, come with DVD player built-in. for TV, you can get a USB plug in tuner (but you will need an antenna too).  most have a car plug adaptor for running off 12 volts or a battery pack thats good for about 2 hours. and if there is WiFi around, you can check your email.

  2. We had one (DVD player) before the thieves that stole our truck got it. We bought it at Wal-mart. I think it was only about 9 in, though.

ETA: You could use a laptop to play movies.

  3. A battery operated TV is one thing, but that's assuming you also have a battery operated DVD player or a battery operated VHS deck.

Here's the problem.  Color TVs are hogs for power.  13" CRT sets use 80w of power.  A 13" LCD TV will still use about 45w.  (Both cost around $150 - $200).  But even the LCD set will go through D cells every 4 hours at best (probably more like 3 hours), so they don't even make sets to run off of them.  They make them to run from a car's 12v battery through the cigarette lighter.

So, rather than buy an entire new TV, you can buy a power inverter much cheaper, for like $40 to plug into your car's cigarette lighter, and get 110v to power your regular 13" TV and DVD or VHS player, too.  Be careful about running down your car battery, but at least it won't die in 3 hours.
