We have a name and birthday but the electric files only go back to 1989. Anyone know how to go about this?

  1. You would have to write to the Police Department under the Freedom of Information Act and request all information relative to the case in question.  Also you might want to write to the Prosecutors Office under the Freedom of Information Act.  You might have to pay for the records, sometimes they charge you for making copies etc under the Freedom of Information Act.   They probably still have the records stored somewhere.  Ask them.

  2. Old school. Physically go to the courthouse in question and look at the paper records.

Call a title company in the Ca County where you need the doc's retrieved from; can be done for a pretty reasonable fee. Or call the clerk's office in the county; if you have the right info, they may be willing to pull the file and send you a copy and put the copy fees on a credit card (Works in a lot of counties; maybe not so much in CA)

  3. You are going to go to the courthouse where the records are kept.  There is most likely a microfiche record somewhere, but even a paper record may be gone by now.
