  1. Ultimately it's the parents choice not the schools on what grade your child is put in.

Consider www.k12.com - they offer a program that is homeschooling but in many states (like Colorado) they offer a virtual public school.

That way you get homeschooling with public school transcripts.

When you kids are placed back into a public system they will have all the neccessary testing/paperwork to keep them right where they belong.

  2. Is there ANY way you don't have to move just yet?

That would be the best solution for your kids. Even if one of the parents stayed behind for the rest of the school year.

Students that move in and out statistically have lower scores in school.

  3. Any time you home school you run the risk of the new school not placing your children in the next grade up.

Talk to your regional superintendent of schools in your new district to find out the guidelines there before deciding

  4. The school can't stop you from pulling your kids out to homeschool.  That is your right as a parent.

However, you may want to look into the homeschooling regulations in your area.  In the US, they are by state.  Check with a local homeschool group (at your new location) they should know what happens when kids quit homeschooling and go to public school.  Different districts handle this differently.

The biggest issue would be that you would maybe have a lot of paperwork to do and educating yourself on the system.  If you can do that, it shouldn't be a problem at all for your kids.

If you have any high schoolers, you will have to figure out what to do with their transcripts, but this could help them in the long run if they are college bound.

You may like homeschooling so much that you continue.

    Good luck :D

  5. How are they going to get to school next year if you are too far away to drive? Or do you mean you wouldn't be transferring them to their new school right away?

The school can't stop you from pulling out your kids to homeschool. But if it's just for the 6 weeks, I'd talk to the school they'll be attending next year to get an idea of what to cover--or maybe they'll have no problem you enrolling them for the 6.5 weeks.

  6. No school can prevent you from withdrawing your kids.  They are not the kids' parents. You are.

First, check into the homeschool laws in the state to which you are moving: movihttp://homeschooling.gomilpitas.com/dire...

Next, know that at this time of year both teachers and students tend to get burned out, so very little actual learning is done.  You can spend this time doing many fun things with your kids, including exploring your new community, reading, and learning using this great website:  http://www.homefires.com/

All the best to you and your family in your new home.  :)
