  1. I think its ok for you and the younger children but 16?  I recall moving from London to the countryside at 15 and the trauma it caused me - good luck

  2. I would love it!  I grew up on the north coast of Scotland- we move up there when I was 5 and it was the best childhood for me.  No drugs or anything like that for kids to get into. Fair enough it was remote and no facilities near like  a cinema etc but  it was just clean air, peace and quiet and it gave me a chance to enjoy my childhood without growing up too fast.   Plus it was also a safe environment and meant I could play all over the farm and cycle to the next village or my friends house without my parents worrying I would be abducted.

Your kids will love it especially the younger ones, the 16 year old might be a bit bored but if he/ she goes off to college when they are 18 then 2 years out of their life isn't much.  No distractions either means you and your husband can have more couple/family time.

I think it's a great idea and good luck with the move.

  3. For you and your younger children it is a great idea; the fresh air and amazing countryside will provide a great place for them to grow up in a safe and clean environment.

The only possible problem is your older child/children. I live in the heart of the Scottish countryside and I find there is very little for people my age to do (nearly 17 years old).

Which area are you considering moving to?

If you are on a route to Glasgow that could provide them with a possible "get away" but apart from that they'll have to try and engage with the local amenities :)
