  1. I can't tell you specific company, but when we moved to Italy you have to make sure that they one that moves internationally because some companies will say they will then pack the stuff and stay they dont deliver and its stuck in the states because they found out all the red tape that is involved in shipping it there. You need to make sure they will do the customs stuff to get your stuff into the country or it can not get into Italy. If you are a government contractor or military they do everything for you which is a big bonus. Talk to your company or military personal property office. The big issue is finding a company in Italy that will deliver it and will not steal it. Lots of stuff gets stole by Italian when they do your move so make sure you still have your renter insurance or homeowners insurance to cover it and that it will cover it because the movers will give you lots of problems if you try to claim though the moving company if they even let you claim it.  My advise is to ship only what you need to and buy new (they have an Ikea in Naples) stuff because the electic is 220 instead of 110 so your tv and electrics will not will unless you get transforms. Houses are usually way bigger to so you may need more funture. Hope this helps.

  2. I dont know..but enjoy the pizza..I am from Naples..or Napoli as the locals call it..enjoy..I miss the place..and I am hoping to go back soon..its a little dirty and people drive like they are insane and Italians love to steal..its in thier blood..I should know..have fun and maybe you could buy some thing from my uncle's iron works..he takes cash and you can get some thing nice for you mother..its all hand man...his last name is D'auria..my italian is rusty...so good luck..

  3. buona fortuna!

  4. Kelly's if you are moving from the UK. Movers International out of Canada and Allied if from the US. I've used all three at various times and can tell you the service is very good.

If yours will be a corporate move then ensure you get crates for marble and glass table tops and for fragile furniture. Don't take your car...  it's probably better to get one there or to use the business car - check on this when you go for your "look see".

Ask questions... don't be shy and don't be afraid to ask stupid ones.

Note that moving to a home in Italy isn't always easy. The streets may be narrow and the shipping container may not fit down the street. Your household goods and personal effects may have to get shuttled from the container to your home - either by had cart or by a smaller van. This is when there is the possibility to either have something "lost" and or damaged. MAKE sure each and ever item on the inventory list gets ticked off. There may not be a freight elevator in the building and so the moving agent on your end will need to get permits to use an external ladder.

You will have to take at least one day off from work to follow the delivery. Make absolutely sure that all of the empty boxes and crates and all of the debris in general is taken away by the movers at destination. There is a serious garbage problem in Naples and the general area and you don’t want to get stuck having to get rid of debris. This should be part of the service – make sure you ask for it.

Finally and important  if you are arriving from out side of the EU - if you do not have a permit to sojourn or "permesso di sogiorno" then you will have to pay 20% yaxes and duties (from 4% and up) on the items decaled in the shipment - before Italian Customs will allow your shipment to be delivered.  Don't bring elctrical appliances or goods that cannot run on 220 volt. Don't plan on running your electical "stuff" off of a tranmsformer for your entire stay. Those things run hot and may cause problems (even serious ones).

More: if you are getting your new home painted (in Naples or anywhere else for that matter in Italy) or repaires done DO NOT trust the finish date. So, this means that you will only have a general idea of when you can move in and nort a specific date. Make sure your painters and or contractor signs and swears that he'll be ready on the promised date or you get the work done free.

Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any other questions.
