When searching, spanish holiday or property to buy on the costa kept coming up. But we want the north of spain. Do spanish real estate agents deal with renting.

As Selina says, get a good lawyer (abogado) before you do anything over here. Don't sign anything or hand over any money, leave that for your lawyer to handle. The laws over here are complex and you will have no idea what you are doing. Your lawyer will be able to guide you. Estate agents in Spain aren't like they are in the UK. The charges here are much higher.

You will find properties to let by typing into Google "Renting in northern Spain". Just use the correct buzz words.

They do but make sure that you understand your rights as non-native renters, these are very different than for native renters and you could find yourself in difficulties if you don't take proper care. Sign nothing that has not been checked for you be a reputable, English speaking lawyer.
