  1. Since you may have a number of hours with nobody there at night, it might be worthwhile to not have to pay to maintain a tank of hot water when you know nobody will be using it.

And it would depend on how much water demand you have also. The bigger the place the bigger the water tank would need to be. Since a tankless never runs out of hot water I think the payback time for the greater cost is directly proportional to the size of the tank or tanks you would require otherwise.

The standard tanks are a lot lower initial cost. If you will have a couple or three chairs, I would guess it may not be worth it. But more and it might pay.

    Good Luck.

  2. tankless is great.  Alway hot water on demand and no water heater to rot.

  3. Be careful with this. Tankless heaters may not be for you depending on the demand and the distance from the point of use to the heater. Also it may be actually more expensive in the long run especially if they are electric ones. The distance and the cool down cycles matter because there is no cushion of water to take up the demand slack. Like you run alot of water trying to get an even temp to wash hair. It sounds good but there is alot of sentiment once people have them that they wished they had gone with the 'old dependable'. Really consider how many chairs and get a good feel on how much time will be wasted waiting for the water temp to stabilize in order to use it. A little wasted time does not sound like much but at the end of a work week it can add up to serious money. Hope this helps.

  4. I have had a gas fired Aqua-Star for over 8 years in this house and had one in my previous house for 15 years and swear by them. Would never go back to a tank. I don't know anybody who has an electric, but I think the other comments about them are probably realistic.

  5. Tankless Water heaters are a great thing,IF they are installed know farther than 30' from your chairs.

Whatever you do don't get one that is electric, for they can not meet demands

Gas ones made by Rinnai can be had that will provide upto about 8-9 gallons a minute.Your bowls will use roughly 2 1/2 gallons a minute each. At about 2200.00 per water heater , it may take awhile to recoup.

But ,they take up less space, generally are more efficent, and can save you money in gas bills.

About 65% of the new houses our company does gets a tankless water heater.
