  1. The Cathedral, Semper Oper, Zwinger and on no account miss the Green Vault.

  2. die Dresdener Frauenkirche,den Zwinger,die Elbe

  3. I have been to Germany twice, but have never visited Dresden.

However, I have found some information for you.

In Dresden there is the Altstadt (Old City) and the Neustadt (New City), even though it's in the old part of the city.

I suggest you get a tourist map (in English of course) of the city, when you arrive.

You should wander around the Altmarkt (Old Market) area of the city. There are a number of old churches, statues, museums and art galleries to see.

Also the Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall),

A 102m-long mural in Augustusstrasse...on the outer wall of the former Stendehaus (Royal Stables).

Southeast of the Altstadt is the Grosser Garten (Great Garden), zoo and Botanical Gardens.

There is also the Semperoper (Opera House) and the Zwinger Palace, which houses the Old Masters Gallery and a Porcelain Collection.

For good value, you can buy a Dresden City-Card for 48 hours...or a Museums day card, which you can probably buy at the local tourist office etc.

Not far from Dresden, you also have the choice of several castles, which would be worth making the effort to see at least one or two if you have the time...

Schloss Weesenstein (13th century medieval castle) and baroque gardens.

Pillnitz Palace...you can travel there by old steamer from the dock on the Elbe River in Dresden.

    And Schloss Moritzburg etc.

Also, 27 km from Dresden, is the small city of Meissen, with it's stunning medieval fortress (Albrechtsburg).

Check out the links below for information and ideas.

I'm sure you will have a great time...
